We also have a well-developed value chain with ag-input suppliers, machinery and equipment manufacturers, seed cleaning plants, grain handlers and fertilizer plants.

Wheatland County has 1.2 M acres of farmland including irrigated lands that form part of the Western Irrigation District (WID). Major crops are wheat, barley, canola, alfalfa, legumes, and oats. There is also a large livestock industry.
A growing niche in the county is organic production. Wheatland has eight organic farms producing vegetables, honey, and livestock as well as organic processors.

They are a Certified Sustainable operation under the Canadian Roundtable for the Sustainable Beef and Verified Beef Plus program. Flying Heart Meats raises their livestock using environmentally responsible practices. The environmental health of water and soil is an important aspect of their operation.
