Transportation and proximity

Located in the heart of southern Alberta, Wheatland County is the ideal place to serve markets in eastern and western Canada, the US and Mexico.

Highway 1, a high-load corridor, runs through the county and provides convenient access to the City of Calgary. Highway 24 also runs south through the county and provides access to the US market. Highways 22x and 564 provide further links to the City of Calgary.

Wheatland County is approximately 37 km from the Calgary International Airport. The county is also served by a CP Rail mainline in the Goldfinch Industrial ASP area and many companies have direct access.

Logistics and Accessibility Advantages

The CN Rail Calgary Logistics Park at Conrich is an intermodal yard with close proximity to the county.

CP Rail operates a rail yard in the southeast of Calgary. They have also proposed an intermodal yard in south-east Calgary.

A CP Rail line runs through the Goldfinch Industrial ASP in the south-west part of Wheatland County. Many industrial facilities in the area have direct rail access, including Nutrien, Orica, Federated Coop, Cargill and Richardson Pioneer. The rail line emerges at the east part of the Hamlet of Carseland and runs past the Rocky Mountain Clean Fuels/Expander Energy facility near Highway 817, creating an attractive value proposition for a new energy/petrochemical hub in the area.
